At the Smart City Expo World Congress 2025 in Barcelona, four CIVITAS projects—MOBILITIES FOR EU, SUM, GEMINI, and metaCCAZE— shared their experiences about how cities ensure mobility innovation is trusted, inclusive, and ready for scale.

These key CIVITAS New Mobility Services (NMS) experts convened in this session to examine how cities can enhance society’s preparedness through co-creation, inclusive governance, and collaborative experimentation. Focusing on hands-on experiences and transferable lessons, the session highlighted how cities are engaging communities, aligning stakeholders, and designing socially responsive, scale-ready mobility systems.

The session, moderated by Andreas G. Piller (ICLEI Europe / CIVITAS Initiative) together with MOBILITIES FOR EU partner Eva Boo (We Right Click), Katerina Maxouti (SUM Project), and Annika Paul (metaCCAZE Project), examined how a transition to climate-neutral and people-centered urban mobility can be achieved through collaboration, citizen engagement, and inclusivity.
